The Virginia Mosquito Association is happy to announce that the submission period for the 3rd Annual Photo Contest is now open through December 31, 2025.
The guidelines, categories, and submission links are listed in the file below.
Voting begins in January and winners will be announced at the conference.

We are pleased to open up the 2025/2026 VMCA Photo Contest to all VMCA & MAMCA members who wish to participate. Simply follow the guidelines for each category that you wish to submit to and reach out with any questions.

We work hard, so letâs celebrate it!
Submit photos of Vector Control Specialists in action. To qualify, the image must include at least one person.
Wait⌠is there something there?
Capture an animal blending into its environment. Photos in this category can be related to field or lab workâor just a great example of natureâs camouflage.

Some creatures make us say âaww,â while others⌠not so much.
Submit a photo of an animal or insect that some might find cuteâeven if itâs debatable!

Some things are just not best practices!
This category is all about what not to do when making pesticide applications. Staged, humorous, and educational photos are encouraged!

Sometimes things donât go as plannedâbut that doesnât stop us (at least, not for long)!
Submit photos of unexpected mishaps in the field or lab that highlight the unpredictable side of vector control.

Channel your inner problem-solver!
Submit a photo of a DIY solution to a work-related challengeâthink outside the box and show off your creativity.

Tires are a common mosquito habitatâbut letâs make them interesting!
Show off a new and creative way to showcase tires or tire-related mosquito habitats.

Time to flex your meme skills!
Submit a funny or creative arthropod-related meme featuring any kind of arthropod.
All contest submissions will be entered into this final category, where one grand prize will be given to the winner.
