OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE VIRGINIA MOSQUITO CONTROL ASSOCIATION
The VMCA Executive Board has voted unanimously to cancel the in-person 2021 Annual Meeting of the Virginia Mosquito Control Association, due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of other states in the region and nationally have also cancelled in-person meetings. During these unprecedented times, the health and safety of our membership and those we serve is at the forefront of this decision. Budget cuts, jurisdictional travel restrictions, and safety issues surrounding large gatherings were all considered as we weighed our options.
The next in-person meeting of the VMCA has been rescheduled for January 25-27, 2022 at the Newport News Marriott at City Center.
Sincere appreciation goes to Charles Abadam, who was able to renegotiate our contract for 2022 without incurring any of the thousands of dollars in cancellation fees that the organization would have been responsible for if we chose to cancel and re-book somewhere else the following year.
The Executive Board has decided to hold this year's conference virtually and you can find all those details below as well as via membership emails. If you believe you are a member but are not receiving emails, please contact us at VirginiaMosquito@gmail.com
The virtual conference will be free to all members this year. Links and directions of how to participate will be emailed so we ask that you please renew your membership or if you're new to our organization, please sign up to be a member for 2021!
Form and payment information can be found on our membership page.
Membership costs only $15 ($10 for students!) and comes with access to events throughout the year including trainings, monthly luncheons (via TMVCC; Covid in absentia), employment announcements, as well as the ability to run for a position on the board, serve on committees, and much more.

January 27th 8:30AM - 1:30PM*
*last hour will be the annual business meeting

We are working with VDACS to satisfy requirements for recertification of Registered Technician as well as Category 8.
Please see Step 4 to help us in creating an appropriate agenda for recertification credit.
More details TBA.
We can't hold a meeting without presentations, so please be thinking about anything vector-related you've been working on that could benefit our membership.
Due to the meeting being held virtually, you will be able to present from the comfort of your own home or office as all presentations will be via GoToMeeting. If you are unavailable at that time but wish to present a pre-recorded presentation, please email Tim DuBois and we should be able to accommodate.
We are seeking presentations for a wide variety of topics. Those that have been covered in the past include: other arthropod vectors, behavior studies, control methods, diseases, legislation, outreach and public relations, program operations, protective protocols, repellants, resistance, and surveillance. Check out the presentations from our 2020 Conference to get more ideas.
Please fill out the presentation submission form below and email to President Elect Tim DuBois (email@example.com).
Deadline for submissions is December 10, 2020.
